History

1912

IUEC Local 39 was granted its charter on December 16, 1912. Headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, Local 39 members have been serving the elevator construction, maintenance, and repair needs of the general public in Rhode Island’s five counties for over a century.

Notable Projects

Local 39 constructors played a key role in several notable projects throughout the years. They contributed to the construction of the nation’s first offshore wind farm; structures that stand over 600 feet high off the coast of Block Island. These elevators continue to be serviced by Local 39 members up to this day.

Today

In recent years Local 39 has gone from strength to strength. With over 80 members, it was time for an office upgrade, and in July of 2021, we moved into our new facility alongside the NEIEP training center. Local 39 members and leadership continue to strive to improve the lives of their community members by providing standout elevator services in the area.
